What is in Neurogenix-XL® ?

Ginko Biloba

Ginkgo improves blood flow to the brain and acts as an antioxidant. These effects may translate into some benefits for certain medical problems, but the results have been mixed.

Some studies have found that in healthy people, ginkgo might modestly boost memory and cognitive speed. Other studies have not found a benefit.

Several ginkgo studies have shown that it can help with memory problems caused by dementia or Alzheimer’s disease. It seems to help prevent the progression of dementia symptoms, especially if the dementia is thought to be the result of atherosclerotic vascular disease. It does not seem to prevent dementia or Alzheimer’s, however.

Ashwagandha

In Ayurvedic medicine, Ashwagandha is most commonly known for its mood-lifting effects. Scientific research supports its potential to treat clinical depressive disorders. Studies show that its effects are comparable to common prescription antidepressants.

These findings are in line with ongoing research into the herb’s potential to treat a wider range of cognitive diseases — like Parkinson’s, Huntington’s, and Alzheimer’s. Ashwagandha may also be helpful for people with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

Studies show ashwagandha reduces cortisol levels in your body, reducing stress and its symptoms like elevated blood pressure and heart rate.

It also helps block nervous system activity associated with conditions like generalized anxiety disorder, insomnia, and clinical depression.

GABA

The most important function of GABA is in our brain. When GABA levels get too low, it’s difficult for the body to relax after a stress-induced neurotransmitter release. Low GABA activity leads to anxiety, depression, insomnia, and mood disorders.

GABA is a natural brain relaxant that makes us feel good. But GABA can also help with the prevention and treatment of other health issues.

Anxiety Management

Multiple studies have been conducted to determine how GABA can be used to treat anxiety.

In one clinical trial, researchers used EEG to measure participants’ brain waves after taking either GABA or a placebo. Just one hour after taking GABA, they saw a significant increase in alpha waves, which caused feelings of calm and relaxation.

Controlled Hypertension

The effects of GABA can be used to stabilize blood pressure in people with hypertension. High blood pressure is a factor that affects your risk of having a stroke, heart attack, or heart failure.

Acetyl-L-Carnitine

Alzheimer's disease.

Several studies show improvements or slower declines in mental ability in people with Alzheimer's disease who took ALC.

High blood sugar.

Research shows that people with prediabetes had some improvement in their blood sugar levels after taking ALC for 2 months.

Alcoholism.

ALC may help reduce cravings in people who are alcoholic.

Depression.

Research found that ALC treatment reduced symptoms of depression in older people. It also improved dysthymia, a milder form of depression, about as well as a common medication.

Lion's Mane Mushroom

Studies have found that Lion’s Mane Mushrooms, though, are a good source of hericenones and erinacines, two chemicals that accelerate the growth of brain cells.

A chemical called the nerve growth factor (NGF) is similarly essential for the normal functioning of the part of the brain (called the basal forebrain) that produces acetylcholine. Acetylcholine is one of the most common neurotransmitters that is used by neurons (brain cells) to transmit information and is also the chemical responsible for your waking state.

Stimulating the basal forebrain leads to the release of this chemical in your brain that in turn causes you to wake up. Studies have shown that NGF enables prolonged acetylcholine release, and chemicals such as hericenones and erinacines help induce NGF production in nerve cells. The presence of NGF is directly proportional to acetylcholine activity.

Other studies, meanwhile, found that when older adults who had cognitive impairments ate three grams of lion’s mane mushroom every day for four months, it led to considerably enhanced mental functioning. Moreover, their functioning reduced when they stopped taking the supplements.
